Little Did I Know

I published today a little combo piece. I teed it up with the power of a great quotation (“to be or not to be”), then with a Gandhi quote on the subtle yet highly efficient power of love. I suggest(ed) that if you have the paradoxically vulnerable strength to show your heart to those who seem cold-hearted in not being vaccinated, you will have acted, and perhaps with this subtlest of forces you may move someone.

My good friend Bill Kerwin, whose essay on The Brothers Karamazov blew my mind when our teacher Fr. Polakowski read it to us back in 1975, emailed me about today’s blog. These 5 minutes SHOW what strong and vulnerable love looks like!!!!

Prepare to be moved . . . to lead with YOUR best self!

  • People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered. Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies. Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you. Be honest and sincere anyway.

What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight. Create anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous. Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, will often be forgotten. Do good anyway.

Give the best you have, and it will never be enough. Give your best anyway.

In the final analysis, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.
    – Mother Tersa.

    • Mark,
What a perfect complement. There is a great story behind this quote, written by a fellow named Keith Kent, who later wrote a book called Always. It’s a wonderful little book and a great story.
      Cheers,
      Dan
