If any political couple had a right to lash out at Arnold Schwarzenegger for fathering a child with a member of his household staff, it is former Gov. Jennifer Granholm and her husband Daniel Mulhern.
Not only do the two former governors have a lot in common — both could have been presidential material were it not for their foreign-born citizenry, both served eight years, and both had spouses that gave up their careers in deference to their partner’s political ambitions.
But that is where the likeness abruptly ends. Because in return for allowing politics to trump their own personal ambitions, Maria Shriver was handed a love-child and the crucible of all humiliations, while Mulhern is successfully redefining what it means to be a man and a leader.
